Carey was a fashion model. She's 5'10" tall, and was popular among top American fashion designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. Her father was a distinguished geologist, who was awarded the title of Scientist of the Year in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey went to all over the world due to her father's work. While she was at in the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. Her move to France in 1980 and lived for a short time in Paris and Bordeaux prior to deciding to move back in New York to continue with her college education and modeling career and was soon appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. In between her modeling assignments she was a full-time student, completing a master's degree in literature at New York University. Gradually she became interested in acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. Her part was a minor one on Club Paradise with Robin Williams, in 1986. She loves rock climbing ski, windsurfing, and skiing.
